Ostuni

Ostuni is located in the northern part of the Province of Brindisi, in the heart of Valle D’Itria.

It is known as the “white town” because of the colour of the old town’s buildings and it is one of the most typical towns in the Apulian territory, and also one of the most coveted destinations. Its white colour is from the lime used to protect the facades of the houses and that gives higher brightness to the entire town.

The Aragonese Town Wall embraces the entire old town inside which you can find the importat Co-cathedralwhose rose window is the Europe’s second biggest. Moving towards the majestic Piazza della Libertà you can find the column with the statue of St.Oronzo, protector of the town.

Besides the artistic beauties that you can find in the old town, Ostuni boasts wonderful landscapes both in its countryside and in its sea area. Among these, one of the most beautiful landscape is the Dune Costiere Park.

In this area we recommend you a pleasant walk between nature and history along the ancient Via Traiana. This Roman stretch of road, which used to connect Benevento to Brindisi, crosses the Park and offers several historical and cultural witnesses belonging to this territory, such as some archaeological sites, the megalithic Dolmen of Montalbano, historical farms, Roman and Medieval subterranean oil mills, rock dwellings, Aragonese watchtowers and centuries-old olive groves.

As gastronomic tip, we reccomend you to taste the typical cuisine, especially the dairy products appreciated throughout the national territory for their good quality.
